A title like this would make it seem like this particular girl was coming from the pits. I’m picturing a girl wearing her Sunday best, with freshly plaited hairlines, carefully holding on to her tattered bags as she gazes at the busy city life. Although this wouldn’t be such a stretch from were I actually stay – a small, quiet old city.
Admittedly, I did watch the city life but I was sitting down. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry, they all walked fast as if they are to run. Drivers impatiently wait for the stop lights, and there are taxis everywhere. Now, I didn’t necessarily take time to watch all this ; I had no idea where I was going, my phone’s navigation is messed up. So, I had to make it look cool – I sat down in the shade and tried to figure out how I was going to fix all this.
Eventually, I made my way to what was about to be my escape. I was just in time for the intensely interesting and exciting nightlife. Before you get too excited it’s not the nightlife you’re thinking about. I am talking about live music, vibrant restaurants, magic tricks and performances.
Incase you are wondering, I was alone. Yes I had a mini vacation alone. To be honest it wasn’t exactly how I had initially imagined this trip. However the trip had to happen so here I was preparing to explore Warsaw alone. It wasn’t sad at all, I promise.
Old Town is very busy over the weekends. I couldn’t help but wonder if everyone was also taking a break from their normal life or this was their life. If this was their “normal” then I had a lot to learn – an important lesson would be : life doesn’t revolve around my bed.
It wouldn’t be a proper trip without a little bit of sightseeing would it? The next day I set out to explore and see all the places tourists would normally visit. I was staying in Old Town Warsaw so I had a chance to see The Royal Castle and other cool buildings I don’t quite remember. Other cool attractions include: The Palace of Culture and Science and Łazienki Królewskie Park-Palace Complex
One night I sat right in the middle of the Old Town madness. I watched a number of friends jump and dance, the excitement clearly visible. A lot of couples were walking hand in hand, some taking pictures of each other. As I sat there I thought to myself “it would be nice to have my friends here”. Of course it would have been amazing but this is when I decided to make this amazing too. I wanted to be truly happy and content alone.
The trip became a test to see if I need people to make every activity enjoyable. I have to say I’m proud of myself because this is the trip I needed and I had an amazing time. The food. The music. The Peace. Amazing!
